Alphonso Mango Season 2026: When Does It Open, How Long Does It Last?

The Alphonso season is one of the most anticipated culinary events in India. It is short, it is intense, and once it's over, you wait another 10 months. Here's everything you need to know about the 2026 season.
When Does the Season Start?
The Ratnagiri Alphonso season typically begins in mid-to-late March, with the first harvest arriving by the end of March. Early-season fruit (March) tends to be slightly smaller with a higher acid-to-sugar ratio. Peak season is April–May when the fruit is at its sweetest, most aromatic, and most abundantly available.
When Does the Season End?
The Alphonso season typically closes by mid-to-late June. By July, the remaining fruit is late-season — larger but less aromatic. The window of truly exceptional Alphonso is roughly 10–12 weeks.
2026 Season Forecast
The 2026 season is expected to be a moderate-yield year following a consistent monsoon in 2025. Early flowering has been reported in Ratnagiri orchards from late November 2025. Expect good quality fruit from the first week of April with peak availability in late April and May.
